Back in the late '90s, my friend Jim and I went to Venezuela to fish the Rio Nigro, a tributary of the Amazon. While fishing this caiman alligator was sunning itself on the sand bar with it's mouth wide open. Jim bet me a $100 that I couldn't cast into the alligator's mouth. First cast went right down to his tonsils. What a fight! After about 20 minutes of fighting, he was finally to the boat. The guide grabbed him by the tail, pulled him into the boat, flipped him over on his back, rubbed his belly, and he calmed right down. I un-hooked him, posed for a picture, and then let him go.

P.S. This was mid January, and it was 120 degrees with a 100% humidity.
