General Plumbing Tips

  1. To upkeep your garbage disposal quarterly, add 1 tray of ice (about 12 cubes) to disposal, grind it up to sharpen blades. That night add 1/4 cup cooking oil to lube the blade assembly.
  2. If you are leaving your home for a few days or more, we recommend that you shut off your water main. This will prevent any damage if a leak occurs.
  3. Everyone likes a powerful shower, but too much pressure will wear on your fixture. 60 to 800 psi is the recommended pressure. Anything more will cost you money!
  4. If you notice water at the base of the toilet, be aware it may be leaking. If it is leaking under the toilet it will rot your floor. Causing your home damage and costing you money.
  5. All plumbing fixtures are not alike. You generally get what you pay for. We suggest that you find one in your budget. If you get a fancy looking faucet for short money, BEWARE! It may cost you money in the near future.
  6. Did you know...Exposure time and the given temperature can cause deep 2nd degree burns. 131 degrees:20-30 seconds, 140 degrees:5-6 seconds. Install Anti-Scolding Valves to prevent injury.
  7. Learn where your Main Water Shut Off is and how to use it. Make sure to have a quick closing valve installed, It can help in a panic.
  8. Washing machine hose failure is a major cause of flooding in homes. You can now have stainless steel braided hoses installed, instead of rubber. It always happens when you are not home. Murphy's Law!
  9. All water heaters are not alike, just like automobiles there are different models and quality. The heaters may all give you hot water, but, all have different lifespans. Some are more energy efficient than others. Saving you money.
